Dear 2016, I am sorry.
I am sorry that everyone is hating on you. I’m not sure why they are, maybe they don’t see your value?
I’m sorry that everybody is anxious to leave you, maybe they’ve forgotten the joy.
Us humans have forgotten one simple thing that I feel we used to hold to. We’ve been disillusioned to think that if politics were controversial, our families went through a tough time, we didn’t reach all of our goals, the world freaked out, and if too many “bad” things happened, we can wrap it up quickly and bitterly as being altogether a bad year.
have we so quickly forgotten the value of life? That we did have a beautiful year? Just because some not-so-pleasant things happened between the timeline of January and December, by no means meant we’re not blessed.
- There were 1,090,395 + babies aborted this year.
- Many people were killed in war.
- Countless more women and children were pulled into trafficking.
- People died of cancer, were raped, lost their children…..
- There are a gigantic amount of homeless people…Children, veterans, single moms, etc..
My point in all of this is to say, yes, we may have gone through some trials in 2016 (I know I sure did), our troubles cannot compare to the less fortunate around the world.
I’m assuming if you’re reading this on your computer or phone right now, you have plenty to eat, a roof over your head, and you probably know about the Lord.
I’m in no way trying to shame us, not at all! I just want people to recognize the amazing blessings we have and opportunities we take for granted every single day.
If you make no other resolution in 2017, decide to count your blessings, and thank the Lord for the beautiful and amazing life He has given to all of us.
